How do I prepare myself for my first bikini wax?

I have never had a bikini wax before (have shaved) and am about to go on holiday's. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to prepare for getting a bikini wax. Should I trim my hairs? How painful is it. Some people have told me to take painkillers before hand does this help?

1) Make sure you have enough hair to wax. 2cm and above is good. The waxer will let you know if its not (call beforehand).

2) Pulling out hundreds of hair follicles is bound to hurt. Yes, it hurts, but its bearable and when its done, you will realise how much it is bearable.

Taking pain killers beforehand is silly. If anything, take them after.

The only thing that hurts when I get it done, is if the hair is too long. Make sure you let the waxer know that its your first time, and you are worried it will hurt.

You need to have 1/4"-1/2" of hair (generally about 2 weeks growth), so if it's longer than that do trim it. It's pretty painful the first time. Don't get waxed just before or during your period. And it doesn't hurt to pop some aspirin about half an hour before your appointment.

What areas does a basic bikini wax cover?

I've never gotten one and don't think I want to dive head first into a Brazilian for my first time, but I do want more than just the bikini line waxed. Does a basic bikini wax get just along your bikini line, or does it also include that whole front area?

unless you have a really cool waxer lady they normally just stick to the sides about an inch or two in from btwn the side and your leg and then about an inch or two off the top. that's it. when you go for the brazilian they will take the whole front even the little bit that's just inside which is very fine hair and then all the way over to like your butt. you bare all with the Brazilian. get a waxer that, at the moment i forget but it's the wax that they put on you then use an ice cube to harden which feels good bc it's really hot (when they put the wax on) the ice cube rolls over it (cooling the area and sorta soothing it) and then they pull.

My birthday party is in about 10 days, and I'm wearing a bikini. I'm inviting boys, so I want to look good. BUT- I don't have flat abs. The bikini is cute, but I want to look great. I now confidence is key, but what kind of tips can you give me to give the illusion of not having a mini muffin-top?

How do you shave bikini line with out getting red bumps?

I have a normal razor, and every time I try to shave off the bikini line pubic hair, I get really annoying and hurty red bumps. Any tips?

i know, those bumps suck don't they? well there are a few things you can do to stop them. first, use a new razor when you shave your bikini line, those bumps can occur die to bacteria from an old razor. next, use a bikini line moisterizing cream after you shave to hydrate the skin and prevent bumps. also, waxing can decrease the chance of the red bumps if done correctly. hope this helps, good luck!

i don't shave anymore. i did that laser hair removal. works wonders! no more shaving for me on my bikini line. results weren't as good on my uppper lip but fab results on my bikini line and my underarms.

Use baby powder and a A or E vitamin cream immediately after leaving the tub. Dab on the baby powder first, then smooth over it with a cream. Try to find a cream that does not contain alcohol.

i use much foam and always a new razor. new razors are really sharp it would cut your hair easily.

Use a moisturizing shave cream, works for me. Also shave in the direction of the hair growth not against it.

you always shave down I used to shave all different directions then someone told me you shave down and hardly ever do I get red bumps or itching . It will take a couple of times cause you need to heal so the first 4 times doing this after you shave put some witch hazel on the area after your done shaving . this will help heal and take away the itching .

Don't bother shaving and buy a pubic hair colored bikini.

My advice - yes, keep wearing that bikini.

Bio Oil is good for fading stretch marks, its not a miracle cream but it helps.

I'm 14 so I understand where you're coming from. I would still wear them. You sound like you're really pretty so I wouldn't worry about it. Self tanning lotion will help. I'm super pale and don't tan easily so I used to feel self conscious. But I found some great tanning lotions and felt so much better. If you really like bikinis, I'd say go for it. No one else will probably care.

wear it!! people will be admiring your body shape not looking at tiny details like stretch marks, I'm sure your body is making a lot of girls jealous, so flaunt it. And if you are Caucasian, self-tanning lotions help to hide them!

What's the difference between using a special swim shirt or wearing a lycra shirt for swimming?

I try to cover up when I'm in the sun. I find that the best way to protect my skin if I'm in an uncovered pool is to wear a swim shirt over my bathing suit. However, the special swim shirts are expensive-will a regular tight fitting lycra shirt work as well? If not, why? Thank you.

I used to be a swim instructor, and since the water in the indoor pools can be really cold I always wore swim shirts to try to stay warm. The Lycra shirts are fine if you don't swim a whole lot and you wash them as soon as you get out. Otherwise the chemicals in the pool will eat at the elastic and it won't last for very long. The actual swim shirts are made of a different material that withstand the chemicals better and last a lot longer. I learned this the hard way! My lycra swim suits and shirts lasted me 3 or 4 months tops, but the more expensive swim ones lasted me over a year!

It should be just as good. The swim shirts are for style and they also dry faster. I usually burn very easy and I tend to wear whatever I have.
